We have had South Indian stars doing Bollywood films and vice versa. Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Bachchan is reportedly planning to do a couple of Kollywood films. The stunner is no stranger to Tamil having debuted in Mani Ratnam’s Iruvar in 1997. She was raw debutant then. Today, she is a sophisticated star and one of the Bollywood's top heroines.
The actress has come full circle since those times. After almost a decade, two of Aishwarya’s upcoming projects will have Tamil versions. Raavan and Robot will be dubbed in Tamil as Ravana and Endhiran respectively. These are her most ambitious Kollywood ventures so far, though she has done films like Jeans and Kandukondain Kandukondain.
In Raavan, she teams up with hubby Abhishek and mentor Ratnam while in Robot, she will be seen with Rajinikanth. A Tamil coach tutored her on the language and diction for Raavan. She wooed everyone by dubbing for her own lines. She also got the tone and accent right! For Robot, it was Rajini himself who gave her lessons. A source revealed that Ash is a fast learner. Though she found it difficult at first, she was able to rattle off lengthy dialogues with ease!
This has made the diva more confident about doing Tamil projects. She loves Tamil films as they are technically and script-wise very rich. When asked about it, she stated that she has to understand the dialogues before delivering them. She dislikes mugging dialogues without knowing what she is saying. So she made special efforts to learn the nuances of Tamil before embarking on these projects. The results are there for everyone to see! Vannakam anyone?

This is HOW Amitabh Bachchan became PAA......
The most Herculean task about the latest release PAA was transforming a 67-year old Amitabh Bachchan into 13-year old child Auro, suffering from a rare disorder called progeria. So come let's take a short run-through over how Amitabh became Auro.
The prosthetic makeup, as we know, has been done by Hollywood's Christien Tinsley (THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, CATWOMAN) and Dominie Till (THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY).
According to the reports Bachchan's make-up cost 10 per cent of the total budget.

Bollywood's Big B 'deeply humbled' in Dubai
Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan said on Wednesday he was "deeply humbled" as the Dubai International Film Festival honoured him with a lifetime achievement award.
“It is a wonderful recognition ... and I am deeply humbled by it," said Bachchan, whose 40-year career in the world's largest film industry has won him several accolades.
Bachchan, 67, in Dubai for the spectacle, said he had no plans for the Arabic film industry as yet but was open to fresh ideas and talent.
Despite an alarming debt crisis, Dubai's sixth international film festival rolled out the red carpet on Wednesday with a mix of Bollywood, Hollywood and Arab celebrities. The fest will feature 168 films from 55 countries, with some being shown for the first time.
Bollywood film ‘Black’, in which Bachchan plays a teacher taking care of a challenged student, will also be screened at the festival.
The star, who has acted in more than 180 films, told reporters that the secret of his "undying energy" was chyawanprash, an ancient Ayurvedic herbal preparation - a sticky, brown, edidle paste - used across India to boost health.
Bachchan, who does not like the term Bollywood to describe India's film industry, said the moniker "was phrased by some eager journalist to please his boss ... but now has gone into the Oxford dictionary" and become a part of history.
"We are happy doing what we do in India," he added.

Big scare for Ash, Abhi as elephant runs amok
Bollywood superpair Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan had a jumbo scare when one co-actor went berserk. The co-actor, an elephant, was brought in for the shoot of Ravan, directed by Mani Ratnam.
His film company, Madras Talkies, has now been issued a show-cause notice by the Animal Welfare Board for not taking permission to use elephants in the film. One of the two elephants brought for the shoot turned amok, killing its mahout on Wednesday. Police said there was no shooting today and the unit had informed them they were shifting to Udhagamandalam.
The film was being shot with the lead pair in the forests near Athirampally waterfalls in Thrissur district when the mahout was trampled to death by the elephant after the shoot was over. Aishwarya, Abhishek and Mani Ratnam were at the shooting site when the incident took place.
Animal Welfare Board secretary D Rajasekar said no permission had been obtained by Mani Ratnam for using elephants. The Board has asked the company to submit its reply in seven days and the chief wildlife warden to give a report about the incident.
A no-objection certificate has to be obtained from the board for shooting films, TV serials and commercials in which animals are used.The elephant, which stood in the middle of the road blocking the way of the Bollywood pair, who were staying at Athirampally Rainforest resort, was brought under control late last night and taken away from the spot early Thursday morning, the police said.

Aishwarya, Shah Rukh ‘Actors of the Decade’
Superstars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan were declared ‘Actors of the Decade’ at the IIFA awards here on Saturday night.
Aishwarya won two honorary awards for her work in Indian and international cinema, while Shah Rukh was honoured for his work in Bollywood.
The 35-year-old actress, who also performed on stage at the function, received both trophies while Shah Rukh missed the ceremony because he is shooting for his upcoming film ‘My Name is Khan.’
The 43-year-old actor, who began his career on the small screen, beat Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Abhishek Bachchan to the title.
Aishwarya won the ‘Golden Decade’ award for her memorable performances in the past 10 years, beating off competition from Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.
While Aishwarya shot to global recognition with international projects like ‘Pink Panther’ and ‘Provoked,’ Khan too has a global following as the ‘Badshah of Bollywood.’

Big B hits out at critics for mixed Delhi 6 reviews
Mega star Amitabh Bachchan has hit out at film critics for judging the recently released Delhi 6 and the Oscar bound Slumdog Millionaire on different yardsticks.
Bachchan said Delhi-6 portrays the philosophy that the system needs strength, honesty and needs to look within.
"The system...needs strength..needs an honesty... needs to look within... a philosophy, ironically, portrayed so beautifully in Delhi-6 and an aspect, so mercilessly criticised in the reviews and opinions," the mega star wrote on his blog.
"Are we being reluctant and fearful then, of looking into the mirror?? he asked.
The actor said the same "learned critics" had derided those who had expressed negative opinion on Slumdog Millionaire, vociferously defending the contents of the film, by arguing, that those who opposed it, did so, because they were reluctant to accept someone who was showing them a mirror.
"So then, metaphorically speaking, or should it rather be, philosophically speaking, what are we saying - Slumdog.. is ok and Delhi 6 not?" the actor said adding that he was baffled at the reviews given by critics.
Taking a dig at critics for the mixed reviews of Delhi 6, Bachchan said, "they (critics) are masters of the game. They are trained and knowledged in the job. Their opinion counts and forms basis of analysis in attracting the customer to the theatre.
"So how feasible is their report when their observations differ to such an extreme and large extent?" he asked.
The actor said Delhi 6 is a mirror on today's society, its complications and its frailties. It addresses cultures and beliefs, human nature and influences.
The mirror to the society is cleverly and even physically demonstrated through the 'mad' baba who maniacally keeps appearing in the streets holding a mirror to the characters of the film.
The black monkey menace has been symbolically taken into the story as being that a hidden black monkey exists within all of us, Bachchan said.
On the eve of the release of Slumdog Millionaire in India, Bachchan wrote that the film had received global recognition because it was made by a westerner.

Hollywood, Bollywood and Arab stars open Dubai film fest
The Dubai International Film Festival kicked off its fifth addition on Thursday with stars from Hollywood, Bolywood and the world of Arab cinema.
The eight-day-long festival, which will feature 182 films from 66 countries, was launched with the screening of "W." This latest movie by director Oliver Stone, an outspoken critic of the Iraq war, chronicles the rise to power of outgoing US President George W. Bush.
Hundreds of cameras flashed at the luxury beachside resort Madinat Jumeirah, as Oliver Stone and Goldie Hawn and Ben Affleck appeared on the red carpet. Oscar winner Nicolas Cage, Salma Hayek, Oscar nominee Laura Linney, Casey Affleck, Brendan Fraser and Danny Glover top a long list of celebrities expected to attend the festival.
They are expected to be joined by Bollywood stars Abhishek Bachchan and Nandita Das, as well as Egyptian stars Adel Imam and Hesham Selim.
Other highly anticipated films are Baz Luhrman's "Australia", starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, and Steven Soderbergh's "Che," a film that narrates the life of Argentinian revolutionary Ernesto Guevara.
After launching the Muhr Award for Excellence in Arab Cinema in 2006, organisers this year included African and Asian movies to the awards, with prizes reaching 500,000 dollars.
On Friday Linney, Hawn and Hayek will attend a fundraiser on behalf of the charity organisation amFAR to raise money for the American Foundation for Aids Research.

Abhishek proud to be gay icon
Director Tarun Mansukhani's "Dostana" has hit the jackpot at the box office and Abhishek Bachchan, who pretends to be a homosexual in the fun flick, is happy to be a gay icon.
"I'm very happy with that. Why should I be surprised or shocked? I think homosexuals are as human as anyone else. It's a matter of great pride if I'm their icon," Abhishek said.
Abhishek described his pairing with John Abraham in the film as the 'jodi' of the moment. "Other screen couples can go eat their hearts out."
His effeminate gestures in "Dostana" have raised eyebrows and there's talk that his father hasn't liked his character or performance in it.
"Why should he take offence? Not at all! The film is not about homosexuality. 'Dostana' isn't 'Brokeback Mountain'. It was just a comedy. My whole family has thoroughly enjoyed it. Who doesn't enjoy a good laugh? It's a normal fun film. Aishwarya (Rai) is very happy it's a big hit...my second big hit of the year after 'Sarkar Raj'," he said.
Though "Dostana" is a fun flick, Abhishek said he slogged while shooting for it.
"We had a lot of fun making the film, but we were serious about the making of the film. I worked very hard on the gestures and mannerisms. We, in this country, tend to take comedies frivolously. Good locales, good songs and that's it.
"In 'Dostana', I had to work very hard to portray a straight man acting gay. It could easily have gone overboard. I wanted to avoid making the character caricatural. Barring one portion (the flashback about how John met Abhishek), we kept it controlled."

Bombay has always celebrated its couples, from Himanshu Rai-Devika Rani to Saifareena. It has been an Eden for lovers, both on and off the screen. The Bolly buff, on his part, has made these romances a part of Indian mythology.

Dostana
With the succes of Dostana, Abhishek Bacchan, John Abraham and Bobby Deol are basking in the sun.
Although it must be clarified, that at the point of basking, both Abhishek and Bobby were fully clothed. As far as John, well… he showed solidarity with world-wide recession. He seems to be given up upper body apparel and now as it appears — is wearing only a belt and slippers at all public functions. I’m also told on good authority, (mostly by John himself), that he’s seriously considering chucking the slippers too.
What very few people know is that Abhishek, John, Bobby and me have a lot in common. Take education as an example. We all studied at the prestigious Bhola Classes and noticed after a couple of turns that there was no sign of Bhola and we all gave up the class forever, after just three sessions.
Now here’s the issue. My wife wants me to re-enact some of the good scenes from Dostana. Initially, I thought that it meant leaving her for a male nurse. However, what she actually wanted was far more difficult and vulgar. The wife wanted me to recreate the scene where John comes out of the sea wearing only a wristband seductively woven around one butt cheek. I tried to use logic, however she refused to accept the fact that John’s wristband wouldn’t go over my wrist, forget the damn buttock.
After some subtle negotiations, I settled for a table-cloth and off we went to the beach. Finally, the wife, video camera in hand, signalled me to come out of the water. Enwrapped in the tablecloth, I did my best John Abraham meets Ursula Andress impersonation. As I reached the sand, I lifted my hands to press down my new hair like John. That’s when the tablecloth lost its balance and fell off. Nobody told me it was the mating season for the jellyfish. It’s sufficient to say, that if it is mating season for the jellyfish, the most stupid thing you could do, is to approach an amorous jellyfish in the raw. Jellyfish as lovers are extremely forward.
Thank you John, Abhi and Bobby. I hope the hospital TV doesn’t show ...err…Dostana.
